History

80 years serving companies for the sustainability of the livestock industry

AFCA-CIAL is the French professional association that represents companies specialised in feed supplements as well as additives and functional ingredients in animal nutrition.

AFCA-CIAL was created in 1941 at a time when the industry and sectors were being structured within professional organisations. Its aim is to defend the industry’s interests and promote its companies. This is a mainly defensive role, which has constantly evolved towards ever more service to members, a growing involvement in regulatory changes and increased proactivity.

AFCA-CIAL is a player in numerous key issues for the sector, such as the drafting of a code of best practice on nutritional animal supplements, the drafting of a guide to good hygiene practices… and more recently, historical files have been reactivated, closed or have seen significant milestone crossings: the simplification of VAT rates, the establishment of recommendations for the use of plant products, management of claims. AFCA-CIAL is also involved in issues such as sustainability and animal well-being.

Feed safety, nutrition-health and sustainability are major issues for AFCA-CIAL.

For over 80 years, AFCA-CIAL has supported the development of French livestock industries.

Turned to the future, the association listens to societal concerns to provide healthy food for the population and ensure the sustainability of the livestock industry.
